## Mission
Organize southern workers so they can bargain for higher wages, benefits, job security, and respect. The IAM does not collect dues until workers ratify a first contract. Organizing conversations are confidential.

Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia — including Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Nashville, Memphis, Louisville, New Orleans, Birmingham, Huntsville, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, Little Rock, Jackson, Mobile, Montgomery, Savannah, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Baton Rouge, and surrounding plant towns.

## Who we organize
Aerospace and defense manufacturing, federal Service Contract Act sites, industrial plants, wood / pulp / paper mills, transportation, and other trades. Veterans are a core constituency.

## How to form a union (5 steps)
1. Contact an IAM organizer confidentially.
2. Build an in-plant committee across shifts and departments.
3. Sign authorization cards (A-cards) when a strong majority is ready.
4. File for and win a secret-ballot election (NLRB or the correct agency).
5. Elect a bargaining committee, negotiate, and ratify a contract. Dues start after ratification.
