Approximately 550 IAM Local 2771 (District 776) members at M1 Support Services at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas have overwhelmingly voted to accept a strong new union contract. The four-year deal wins pay increases of more than 22%.
The union contract locks in employee and family healthcare contributions so that the company can't raise healthcare costs for three consecutive years. Something that non-union workers see increase annually. The new deal includes stronger language on the scope of work and work rules, including that IAM members shall be paid if management cancels overtime shifts once the employee has been notified.
“They deserve this strong contract that reflects the value of the work they do,” said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Craig Martin. “Solidarity like this brings our members the job security needed for four more years of stability on this contract.”
On average Union members make 30% more in overall wages and benefit packages according to the U.S. government labor statistics.
